Can you promote your product in r/Twitch?

You generally should not promote your product in r/Twitch. The rules are especially restrictive under Rule 2, "Advertisement Guidelines," which say "Don’t post an account name or link," "Don’t post tools, apps or services without prior mod permission," and "Don't post a link to a YouTube video, social media account, blog, or similar website." There is a narrow exception if you have prior mod permission for tools, apps, or services, and the sidebar also lists a "Services Megathread," so you should check whether your topic belongs in that megathread.

The rules that cover promotion

Rule 2: Advertisement Guidelines

"Don’t post an account name or link."

"Don’t post links to discord servers."

Rule 2: Advertisement Guidelines

"Don’t post referral links."

Rule 2: Advertisement Guidelines

"Don’t post tools, apps or services without prior mod permission. This includes feedback or market research."

What gets removed

  • Posts with account names or links
  • Discord, referral, redirect, giveaway, and social media or blog links
  • Tools, apps, or services posted without prior mod permission
  • Link dumps, link posts, or posts that should go in a megathread

Safer ways to show up

  • Ask the mods first if you want to post a tool, app, or service
  • Use the relevant megathread if one exists, such as the Services Megathread, Feedback Thread, or Collaborations / LFG thread
  • Make text posts with an informative title and body, not a link post
  • Participate by asking or answering Twitch questions in a helpful, constructive way
Whatever the written rules say, the pattern that gets promo removed everywhere is the same: batches of similar comments, reused wording, and necro-posting on old threads. A promotional mention only has value if it survives, so pace matters more than volume. We measured this the expensive way: 70% of bought pool comments were removed within two weeks.
