Can you promote your product in r/socialmedia?
You should not promote your product in r/socialmedia unless your post clearly fits the subreddit’s professional discussion purpose and does not function as unsolicited promotion. Rule 6 says, "please refrain from unsolicited self-promotion or driving traffic to personal channels," and the submit page warns, "SPAM/Advertising/Selling Accounts = BAN." If you share links, Rule 4 also requires your own commentary, context, or analysis.
The rules that cover promotion
Rule 6: Self-Promotion
"While we appreciate your passion, please refrain from unsolicited self-promotion or driving traffic to personal channels."
Rule 7: Spam/advertising or click bait
"Spam = ban. This is your first and final warning."
Submit-page text
"SPAM/Advertising/Selling Accounts = BAN"
Rule 4: Enhance link shares with commentary
"please include your own commentary, context, or analysis to foster meaningful discussion within our community."
