Can you promote your product in r/reactjs?

You can promote something in r/reactjs only in limited, value-first ways. Rule 5 says, "If you have a body of content you'd like to promote, our recommended way of doing so is to be an active and positive member of the subreddit," and the guidelines also say, "Avoid commercial activity" and that this is "not a place for prominent commercial activities such as recruiting, lead generation, marketing, market research, or other solicitation, except in posts dedicated to that purpose."

The rules that cover promotion

Rule 5: Posts must conform to our guidelines

"If you join this community to take value rather than contribute, the community will quickly react as though you are an intruder."

What gets removed

  • Portfolios posted outside the weekly Sunday portfolio post
  • Prominent commercial activities such as recruiting, lead generation, marketing, market research, or other solicitation, except in posts dedicated to that purpose
  • Demo videos that are not accompanied by source code
  • Posts that are not original works, including raw AI output without source and original thought

Safer ways to show up

  • Be an active and positive member before promoting your own content
  • Share an external answer you created when it directly answers someone's question
  • Use the weekly Sunday portfolio post for portfolio promotion
  • If you post a demo video, include source code, preferably in a runnable environment like CodeSandbox or Codepen
Whatever the written rules say, the pattern that gets promo removed everywhere is the same: batches of similar comments, reused wording, and necro-posting on old threads. A promotional mention only has value if it survives, so pace matters more than volume. We measured this the expensive way: 70% of bought pool comments were removed within two weeks.
