Can you promote your product in r/printondemand?

Yes, you can promote your product in r/printondemand, because the sidebar says, "Self promotion is fine, and perfectly acceptable." But it comes with limits: "please don't make a ton of thread with products," "You can start a thread on your shop, and it's preferred that you keep that one updated with anything new," and Rule 1 says, "No spam" and "Make the content worth reading."

The rules that cover promotion

Self promotion

"Self promotion is fine, and perfectly acceptable, but please don't make a ton of thread with products."

Shop thread preference

"You can start a thread on your shop, and it's preferred that you keep that one updated with anything new."

Rule 1: No spam

"Seriously, don't just spam your PoD site. Make the content worth reading."

Affiliate links

"Affiliate links are okay, after all this community would like it's members to succeed!"

Quoted from the subreddit's own rules, snapshot from July 2026. Read all 4 rules on Reddit

What gets removed

  • Spammy promotion of your PoD site
  • A ton of threads with products, instead of keeping one shop thread updated
  • Shortened URLs
  • Links used for review requests, when the rules say to post a screenshot or image instead

Safer ways to show up

  • Start one thread for your shop and update that thread with new items
  • Make promo posts worth reading, not just a bare site spam drop
  • Use full URLs, not shortened links
  • For feedback or design help, post screenshots or images instead of links
Whatever the written rules say, the pattern that gets promo removed everywhere is the same: batches of similar comments, reused wording, and necro-posting on old threads. A promotional mention only has value if it survives, so pace matters more than volume. We measured this the expensive way: 70% of bought pool comments were removed within two weeks.
