Can you promote your product in r/growmybusiness?

You generally cannot promote your product in r/growmybusiness. The rules say, "No Selling or Upselling" and "No selling or up selling of products or services allowed," and advice content belongs in the monthly thread. The only narrow exception stated is in Rule 1, where monthly thread advice posts "may include a signature and links but it needs to have content."

The rules that cover promotion

Rule 1: Post Advice Content in the Monthly Thread!

"Post advice and strategy content in the monthly sticky thread. You may include a signature and links but it needs to have content."

Rule 3: No Selling or Upselling

"Add value with your comments and posts. No selling or up selling of products or services allowed."

Posting Tips

"No selling or up selling of products or services allowed."

Rule 5: No External Surveys/Feedback Requests

"Too often this is upselling / collecting contact info and results in spammy posts."

Quoted from the subreddit's own rules, snapshot from July 2026. Read all 5 rules on Reddit

What gets removed

  • Selling or upselling of products or services
  • Blog posts, including asking for feedback on blog posts
  • External surveys or external feedback requests
  • Advice and strategy content posted outside the monthly sticky thread

Safer ways to show up

  • Ask a specific business-growth question, include a question mark in the title
  • Ask for product feedback, include the word "feedback" in the title
  • Share advice or strategy in the monthly sticky thread
  • If you post in the monthly thread, keep it content-first, any signature and links are only allowed there
Whatever the written rules say, the pattern that gets promo removed everywhere is the same: batches of similar comments, reused wording, and necro-posting on old threads. A promotional mention only has value if it survives, so pace matters more than volume. We measured this the expensive way: 70% of bought pool comments were removed within two weeks.
