Can you promote your product in r/django?

Yes, you can promote your product in r/django, but only under clear conditions. Rule 2 says, "Sharing your own content is fine, but remember to participate in other ways/share other things too, or the spam algorithm might get you," and Rule 3 requires posts to stay relevant to Django or the Django community.

The rules that cover promotion

Reddit rules

"Sharing your own content is fine, but remember to participate in other ways/share other things too, or the spam algorithm might get you."

Reddit rules

"All of reddit's site-wide rules -- including those about harassment, posting personal information, spam, invading/brigading, vote manipulation, etc. apply here."

Stay on-topic

"Posts and discussion in /r/django should be, y'know, relevant to Web development with Django, or to the Django community :)"

Quoted from the subreddit's own rules, snapshot from July 2026. Read all 3 rules on Reddit

What gets removed

  • Spam, under Reddit site-wide rules
  • Posts or discussion that are not relevant to Django web development or the Django community
  • Content that breaks Reddit site-wide rules, including harassment, posting personal information, brigading, or vote manipulation

Safer ways to show up

  • Share your own content only if it is clearly relevant to Django or the Django community
  • Participate in other ways too, do not only post your own links
  • Share other things besides your own content, to avoid being treated as spam
  • Follow Django's Code of Conduct and Reddit's site-wide rules when posting
Whatever the written rules say, the pattern that gets promo removed everywhere is the same: batches of similar comments, reused wording, and necro-posting on old threads. A promotional mention only has value if it survives, so pace matters more than volume. We measured this the expensive way: 70% of bought pool comments were removed within two weeks.
