community rules

Can you promote your product in r/digitalnomad?

No. Rule 2 is explicit: "No self-promotion or blog spam" and says that links to blogs, product launches, YouTube, fundraising campaigns, or other self-promotional material "will be removed." The rule also says, "No exceptions," so you should not promote your product in r/digitalnomad.

The rules that cover promotion

Rule 2: No self-promotion or blog spam

"Links to blogs, product launches, YouTube, fundraising campaigns, or other self-promotional material will be removed. No exceptions"

Rule 4: Job postings should be shared in the weekly discussion thread

"Job postings should be shared in the weekly discussion thread"

Quoted from the subreddit's own rules, snapshot from July 2026. Read all 8 rules on Reddit

What gets removed

  • Self-promotional material, including blogs, product launches, YouTube, and fundraising campaigns
  • Surveys, interview requests, and market research
  • Frequently asked job advice questions
  • Laptop or beach pics that do not answer the stickied AutoModerator questions in a timely manner

Safer ways to show up

  • Read the pinned "Want to make a post? Read this first!" guide before posting
  • Use the wiki and search before asking common job or career questions
  • Share job postings in the weekly discussion thread
  • Post trip reports, the rules say DN trip reports are encouraged
Whatever the written rules say, the pattern that gets promo removed everywhere is the same: batches of similar comments, reused wording, and necro-posting on old threads. A promotional mention only has value if it survives, so pace matters more than volume. We measured this the expensive way: 70% of bought pool comments were removed within two weeks.
