Can you promote your product in r/artificial?

You generally cannot promote your product freely in r/artificial. Rule 2, "Self-advertisement," says "Your first post or comment cannot have promo" and "We want participation here first for you to advertise," and it also says "No self-inserting your product here." Rule 4, "No selling," adds "No selling your own products or anything in general," so any promotion is heavily restricted and subject to mod discretion.

The rules that cover promotion

Rule 2: Self-advertisement

"Your first post or comment cannot have promo, that would be 100% self-promo, do not try to get around the rule, it's 10%."

Rule 2: Self-advertisement

"Any questions or confusion you need to Modmail us first before posting."

Rule 2: Self-advertisement

"We want participation here first for you to advertise. No self-inserting your product here. We will use mod discretion."

Rule 4: No selling

"No selling your own products or anything in general. It's sketchy and hard to enforce."

What gets removed

  • First posts or comments that contain promo
  • Self-inserting your product
  • Selling your own products, crypto, job offers, or similar content
  • Spam, off-topic posts, clickbait, or misleading content

Safer ways to show up

  • Participate in the community first before advertising anything
  • If you are unsure, Modmail the moderators before posting
  • Post AI-relevant content with clear, accurate titles and avoid clickbait
  • Share useful discussion, research, news, or educational content instead of product plugs
Whatever the written rules say, the pattern that gets promo removed everywhere is the same: batches of similar comments, reused wording, and necro-posting on old threads. A promotional mention only has value if it survives, so pace matters more than volume. We measured this the expensive way: 70% of bought pool comments were removed within two weeks.
