community rules

Can you promote your product in r/apple?

Yes, but only in a narrow, explicit lane. Rule 9 says, "Self-promotion is allowed on Sundays, only for developers," and the sidebar adds that it is "strictly reserved for app developers and must be in the form of a self-post." Outside that, the rules say, "No spam, self-promotion of your own blogs/websites/videos, or surveys are allowed."

The rules that cover promotion

Rule 9: Self-promotion is allowed on Sundays, only for developers.

"No spam, self-promotion of your own blogs/websites/videos, or surveys are allowed. If you are a developer wanting to promote your app on the subreddit, you may do so on Sundays (California time) self-post only."

Sidebar Rule 9

"No spam. No surveys. Self-promotion is allowed on Sundays only, strictly reserved for app developers and must be in the form of a self-post."

Rule 9 activity requirement

"Activity requirements are enforced; developers should participate organically on the subreddit. (Comments/posts)"

Quoted from the subreddit's own rules, snapshot from July 2026. Read all 13 rules on Reddit

What gets removed

  • Spam, surveys, and self-promotion of your own blogs, websites, or videos
  • Developer promo posted outside Sunday, or not as a self-post
  • Direct image links, or image/video posts without sufficient context
  • Posts not directly related to Apple, or posts that do not foster reasonable discussion

Safer ways to show up

  • If you are an app developer, post only on Sunday and use a self-post
  • Read the detailed Rule 9 requirements before posting
  • Participate organically in comments and posts before promoting
  • Share Apple-related posts that foster reasonable discussion and follow the original-title rule
Whatever the written rules say, the pattern that gets promo removed everywhere is the same: batches of similar comments, reused wording, and necro-posting on old threads. A promotional mention only has value if it survives, so pace matters more than volume. We measured this the expensive way: 70% of bought pool comments were removed within two weeks.
