Can you promote your product in r/androiddev?

No, you cannot promote your product in r/androiddev if that means promoting an app. Rule 2 explicitly says, "No App Promotion or Recruiting Testers" and states that "Sharing applications or recruiting testers is not allowed." Posts also have to be related to native Android development and generally applicable to the community, not sales, marketing, or a personal case.

The rules that cover promotion

Rule 2: Must be Related to Native Android Development, No App Promotion or Recruiting Testers

  • Sales and marketing questions
  • One-off question posts
  • App takedowns, play store vents

Safer ways to show up

  • Use the Monday Questions, Feedback thread for questions or feedback
Whatever the written rules say, the pattern that gets promo removed everywhere is the same: batches of similar comments, reused wording, and necro-posting on old threads. A promotional mention only has value if it survives, so pace matters more than volume. We measured this the expensive way: 70% of bought pool comments were removed within two weeks.
