Can you promote your product in r/androidapps?
No. Rule 2, "Self-Promotion & Dev Content," says, "Any self-promotion, tester requests, new app ideas or app feedback are not allowed in r/androidapps." The same rule says this content should go to the sister subreddit r/droidappshowcase instead.
The rules that cover promotion
Rule 2: Self-Promotion & Dev Content
"Any self-promotion, tester requests, new app ideas or app feedback are not allowed in r/androidapps. This type of content can be posted in the dedicated sister-subreddit r/droidappshowcase."
Rule 5: Spam & External Links
"Blog articles must be specific (e.g., "App X Version 2 Update"). No "Top 10" lists or low-value roundup articles. Videos are only allowed as links within a text post/comment, not as direct link submissions."
Rule 4: Approved Sources Only
"Only links to official stores (Play Store, Aurora, Samsung, F-Droid) and GitHub are pre-approved. Direct APK download links are strictly prohibited."

What gets removed
- Self-promotion, tester requests, new app ideas, or app feedback are not allowed
- Direct APK download links are strictly prohibited
- Low-effort posts may be removed
- Blog spam, low-value roundup articles, and direct video link submissions are not allowed
Safer ways to show up
- Post self-promotion or dev content in r/droidappshowcase instead
- Participate by asking or answering Android app questions in English
- Share links only from pre-approved sources like official stores or GitHub
- If you link articles or videos, follow the specific format rules for blog posts and video links
Whatever the written rules say, the pattern that gets promo removed everywhere is the same: batches of similar comments, reused wording, and necro-posting on old threads. A promotional mention only has value if it survives, so pace matters more than volume. We measured this the expensive way: 70% of bought pool comments were removed within two weeks.
